Les Fairchild working on the lathe |
I have been involved with various disciplines of woodwork, as a hobby, for most of my life. Following my retirement as a tooling engineer for General Motors, I began lathe turning in 2000. I find that I most enjoy the almost infinite possibilities of segmented turning projects. This discipline allows the artist to use the many grains, textures and hues of natural woods as a palette to create and accentuate design. |
