Penny Dunklee
My mother gave me an oil painting set. I remember sitting on the edge of my bed painting a deer in the middle of some drawing paper. Since I have never had an official course in studio art, I will always think of myself as a searching student. I love being a student, always practicing, always learning. I take an occasional workshop, hoping to learn something new. However, I think one can take too many workshops and learn too many “right” ways of doing things.
I have concentrated on painting the beautiful moments of life with watercolors. I have illustrated and painted covers for several books and magazines. I do an occasional commission and have many collectors. My paintings have been accepted in a variety of regional and national shows, even winning awards. I am currently a signature member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society. I will always think of myself as a student, learning the wonderful ways of watercolors. |
